“Jamming With Jimmy”

February, 2017

There are many perks I enjoy as part of the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver management team and right at the top of my list is watching outstanding co-workers spread their wings as the years go by all too quickly.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when Sara Aasebo and Darcy Poole came onto the scene as keen young people ready to take on the world. Sarah started as a Human Resources coordinator back in the days of the Boulevard Casino while Darcy was launching a career in a security supervisor position when the Coquitlam Casino was first opened. You could see from the very start they were both destined to rise quickly in their respective fields.

Sure enough, we have had to wish them fond farewells as Sara takes on new challenges in a Human Resources role with the City of Coquitlam while Darcy now calls Elements Casino his new home as Operations Manager, Slots.

I can’t say enough about how much we appreciated their energy and dedication during their time with us at Hard Rock. In this industry, we seem to flourish as a family, sharing growing pains and celebrating the good times. With Sara and Darcy, it is safe to suggest that many more good times will be coming their way in the years ahead.

And while I’m on the subject of perks, allow me to share another with you. I get such a kick out of watching the ‘new’ mingling with the ‘old’ and over the next several weeks our guests at Hard Rock will be getting a taste of exactly what I mean.

Let’s start with the new. The famous young South Korean singer, dancer, songwriter and model Hyuna is one of the headline entertainers coming this way with her world-renowned hit music at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on February 22. And keeping with the theme “new”, beginning February 12 will be the official Grand Opening of our Neptune Chinese Kitchen showcasing the great Chinese Cuisine that was put on the universal culinary map by the Neptune Restaurant Group. We’ll be celebrating with special offerings for table play where everyone can participate.

Now, getting back to the melding of generations, we’re excited about presenting the spectacular Abba Tribute on March 17, followed by the forever-popular Coronation Street: the Peter Barlow Prodigal Son Tour on May 5. Both of these production gems have been getting rave notices for many years.

They are comfortable contributors to our demographic plans at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver for 2017 where our guests can enjoy the future, the present and the past in the entertainment industry. There are no boundaries.
