Dave Martone
David Martone is an adroit and distinctive musician/guitarist currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia who denotes his playing style as progressive fusion, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, “Zone”. His workhorse guitars consist of a Parker Fly and a Fender Strat. Martone has been playing guitar since 1976, and unreservedly relates his career objective, “To bring back instrumental music and make it new and exciting. Then to bring our music to the four corners of the earth and back, then conquer the next planet!”
When asked to disclose his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Martone purposefully responded with, “Compression,” and outlined his musicial goals, “To create new sounds, song structures and harmony in music while expanding regular listener’s minds to comprehend it.” He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study piano in the style of George Winston, and is at the moment listening to the Johansson Brothers with Allan Holdsworth, Serge Rachmaninoff, Noise Therapy and Peter Gabriel’s ‘The Passion’. His most important gratification? “Being able to squeeze emotion from every note, no matter how fast they occur and creating music with Paul, Juice and Daniel,” he muses confidently.
