Steven Wright

Academy Award-winning comedian, Steven Wright, performs at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on Friday, January 19, 2018. Wright is known for his stand-up acts, as well as his appearances in numerous films including Mike Meyers’ “So I Married An Axe Murderer,” Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers” and many others.

Raised in Burlington, Mass., Wright received his big break when he was booked for back-to-back appearances on “The Tonight Show” appearance in 1982. The comic soon found himself performing his off-beat routines on “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with David Letterman.” Wright expanded his comedy career to include comedy albums, film and television appearances. His debut album, “I Have a Pony,” earned him a Grammy Award nomination. In 1989, Steven won an Academy Award for Best Short Film for “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings,” in which he starred and co-wrote.

Steven’s second album, “I Still Have A Pony,” earned him his second Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album. Steven has been honoured as the first inductee into the Boston Comedy Hall of Fame. In 2013, Steven received the Johnny Carson Comedy Legend Award, presented to a celebrated comedian every year who has been influenced by Carson. Currently, Steven is a regular guest with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers.
